After two wins against the Rochester Red Wings here at Polar Park, Wednesday and Thursday nights, the Worcester Red Sox loss 3-0 Friday night.
In recognizing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Friday night Polar Park went gold with gold ribbons painted on the field in foul territory, players from both teams and the Umpires wearing gold wristbands and more than 100 childhood cancer patients and their families helped form a human gold ribbon in the outfield during the WooSox’ pregame ceremonies.
At the end the 3rd inning, everyone at Polar Park, from the players and fans to folks in the media booth and broadcasters took a stand holding gold placards inscribed with the name of someone who has been in the battle with cancer.
Earlier this week the WooSox presented a check for more than $50,000 to UMass Memorial Medical Center, the exclusive health care provider of the WooSox and during Friday nights game the WooSox Foundation presented $10,000 to the Jimmy Fund Clinic.
At the conclusion of Friday nights game, the WooSox presented their final fireworks show of the season, gold-themed with inspiring music about perseverance, strength, and compassion. The fireworks spectacular throughout this season has been presented by UniBank.
Worcester will meet Rochester again Saturday afternoon, at 12:05 PM and try to claim a third win against Rochester.
The Worcester Red Sox on Sunday will wrap up their inaugural season at Polar Park and present their second Fan Appreciation Day. Sundays game starts at 4:05 PM.
