WooSox Fall 8-4 To The Rochester Red Wings

Sunday was game six of six between the WooSox and the Rochester Red Wings. Rochester came into this one scoring early, with Blake Swihart, Carter Kieboom and Jake Noll scoring for Rochester in the bottom of 1st to make it a 3-0, Rochester game.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Jecksson Flores and Blake Swihart both scored for Rochester to make it a 5-0, Rochester game.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Rafael Bautista hit his 3rd homer of the season for Rochester to make it a 6-0, Rochester game.

In the top of the 5th, Chad De La Guerra hit his first homer of the season for the WooSox to make it a 6-1, Rochester game.

De La Guerra played at for Pioneer Valley where he earned All-PAC 7 honors in his senior year. After high school he didn’t play in a D1 program, instead he moved out west to play JUCO ball at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA. After two years there he came back east to play for North Carolina State. He went back out west to play for Grand Canyon University before being drafted in the 17th round in 2015. He’s played six seasons now all over the minors. He made his way to Pawtucket in 2019 and now with the WooSox for the 2021 season.

In the bottom of the 6th, Blake Swihart scored again for Rochester to make it a 7-1, Rochester game.

In the top of the 6th, Chris Herrmann hit his 4th, homer of the season for the WooSox to make it a 7-2, Rochester game.

In the top of the 8th, Jonathan Araúz scored to make it a 7-3, Rochester game but in the bottom of the 8th, Rochester came back with an answer for Araúz with Blake Swihart hitting his 3rd, homer of the season to make it an 8-3, Rochester game.

In the top of the 9th, the WooSox are not leaving this game quietly. Chris Herrmann scored off a De La Guerra line drive to center field to make it an 8-4, Rochester game. De La Guerra got his first double of the season with that hit.

The final in downtown Rochester, NY. at Frontier Field was Worcester 4 and Rochester 8.

The WooSox will have Monday off and return home to play at Polar Park on Tuesday.
