Friday night is always a great night for baseball and tonight the Worcester Red Sox played game four of a six game series against the Syracuse Mets.
On Tuesday night the WooSox won game one, 11-4. On Wednesday night the WooSox won game two 12-5 and the WooSox won Thursday night 5-2.
The Syracuse Mets got on the board early, in the bottom of the first with Orlando Calixte and Khalil Lee both scoring to make it a 2-0 game.
The WooSox got on the board in the top of the fourth, with Michael Chavis hitting a homer to make it a 2-1, Syracuse game. That was the first home run for Michael Chavis this season. Last season Chavis hit five home runs with 146 at bats. In 2019, with 347 at bats, Chavis had 18 home runs.
In the top of the eighth, both Marcus Wilson and Franchy Cordero scored to make it a 3-2, Syracuse game.
In the bottom of the eigth, Wilfredo Tovar scored for Syracuse to make it a 3-3 game.
In the top of the nineth, Yairo Munoz and Jack Lopez both scored to make it a 5-3, WooSox game.
The final in Syracuse was, Worcester 5 and Syracuse 3.
The WooSox showed no life in their bats in their first three innings against. They showed a sign of some life with Chavis hitting that homer in the fourth.
They went three more innings with no sign of life in their bats and then suddenly someone gave the WooSox CPR and they came back to life in the top of the eigth and stayed alive in the nineth to win Friday night.
Tonight the WooSox didn’t show a lot of strength but they were good at doing just enough and they have now won their last four games against Syracuse.
Also, Friday night the Worcester Bravehearts ended their losing streak, beating the Norwich Sea Unicorns 10-0 at Fitton Field.
On Saturday night, the WooSox will play game five against Syracuse and the Massachusetts Pirates will play the Frisco Fighters at the DCU Center.
