By Tiffany Williams –

After having Monday night off, the Worcester Red Sox played game one of six, Tuesday night against the  Syracuse Mets at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York.

Jarren Duran was back with the Worcester Red Sox Monday night after being inactive for two weeks. He was helping Team USA qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics later this summer.

The Worcester Red Sox remain in second place as they played the fifth place Syracuse Mets.

In the top of the second Jeter Downs scored to get the WooSox in the game, 1-0 and then Jonathan Araúz hit a homer to make it a 2-0 game.

In the top of the third, Connor Wong hit a grand slam and earned himself three RBI’s (Jarren Duran, Franchy Cordero and Yairo Munoz) to make it a 6-0 WooSox game. Also, in the top of the third, Johan Misses scored and that made it a 7-0 WooSox game.

In the top of the sixth, Marcus Wilson scored to make it an 8-0 WooSox game and then Franchy Cordero scored to make it a 9-0 WooSox game.

It took seven innings for Syracuse to get in the game and they did it with Cheslor Cuthbert hitting a homer and getting an RBI (Patrick Mazeika) to make it a 9-2 WooSox game.

In the bottom of the eigth, Sebastian Elizalde and Drew Jackson both scored for Syracuse to make it a 9-4 WooSox game.

The WooSox were not letting this game get away from them and Marcus Wilson made sure of that, hitting a homer on a fly to center and getting an RBI (Jarren Duran) to make it an 11-4 WooSox game.

The Worcester Red Sox close it out Tuesday night with a 7 point lead. The final at NBT Bank Stadium was Worcester 11 and Syracuse 4. Worcester had 11 runs and 15 hits. They gave up 4 runs and 5 hits to Syracuse.

Marcus Wilson is having a very strong season for the WooSox with 98 at bats, 18 runs, 28 hits, 7 homers and 19 RBI’s. His batting average is .286, his on base percentage is .397 and his slugging percentage is .592. Marcus Wilson is worth a mention tonight because this is a guy you can have confidence in and is an underrated player.

The Worcester Red Sox entered play Tuesday night after losing two back-to-back Contests against the Rochester Red Wings but they turned things around in game one of six against Syracuse.

Now can they get five more wins against Syracuse and sweep this series? It is a possibility that they could outperform Syracuse and they’ve shown us that there is no limits to what they are capable of being when they play with a greater level of confidence on both sides of the ball.
