In A Competitive Contest, Pirates fall 40-36 To The Green Bay Blizzard

Sunday night the Massachusetts Pirates played the Green Bay Blizzard at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Sunday nights game was just less than 24 hours after a Mass shooting at the hotel the Pirates were staying at.

First quarter started with the Green Bay Blizzard getting an early 3-0 lead off a field goal. The Massachusetts Pirates however ended the 1st quarter with Alejandro Bennifield making a quarterback sneak touchdown and the kick after was good for a 7-3 Pirates lead.

The 2nd quarter started with Green Bay Blizzard, Trevon Saunders getting a kick return touchdown for a 10-7 Blizzard lead. Alejandro Bennifield got his second touchdown of the night, the kick after was good for a 14-10 Pirates lead. Green Bay kicker, Henry Nell on a kick scored a deuce making it a Blizzard 15–14 lead. Blizzard then got a two point safety for a 17–14 lead. Green Bay kicker, Henry Nell got a two point field goal to end the second quarter and first half with the Green Bay Blizzard leading the Massachusetts Pirates 20-14.

In the first half, the Green Bay Blizzard offense just could make any plays against a Massachusetts Pirates defense. For the Blizzard, Momodou Mbye a Pawtucket, R.I. native who attended URI was a defensive threat for the Massachusetts Pirates in the first half.

Kerrion Moore, running back for the Green Bay Blizzard scored the first touchdown of the 3rd quarter to make it a 27-14, Blizzard lead. Pass from Alejandro Bennifield to Demarcus Ayers in the end zone was good for a touchdown. Making it a 27-20 Blizzard game. Massachusetts Pirates defense Martrell Spaight and J.D. Griggs got a 2 point safety to make it a 27-22 Blizzard game. Alejandro Bennifield got his third touchdown of the night to end the third quarter with the Massachusetts Pirates taking a 1 point, 28-27 lead over Green Bay Blizzard.

The fourth quarter, Massachusetts Pirates defense got their second two point safety of the game, making it a Pirates 30-27 game.  Alejandro Bennifield got a quarterback sneak for his fourth touchdown of the night, making it a Pirates 36-27 game. Under four in the fourth and Eric Thomas Jr. got a touchdown for the Blizzard making it a 36-34 Pirates game. With 32.3 seconds remaining in the game, Blizzard QB, Damion May got off a botched snap to Kezlow Smith for a touchdown and Green Bay Blizzard took over the lead for a 40-36 game final.
