Monday marked the 48th anniversary of the departure of the last U.S. combat troops from the war zone in Vietnam.
On Monday night at about 5:30 p.m., President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden visited the Vietnam War Memorial in D.C.
The first lady set a white bouquet of flowers at the base of the Vietnam War Memorial while President Biden traced the name of Dennis F. Shine, a Worcester native who was killed in action during the Vietnam war.
The President and first lady then observed a moment of silence to honor the lives of more than 58,000 veterans who are listed on the Vietnam war, a towering black granite plaque.
