While most probably thought the Patriots would come out of the 2020 NFL Draft with a replacement for TB12, they didn’t and Belichick said it simply didn’t work out.
So what did the Patriots get? Well with 12 picks they selected only 10 players.
Brady wasn’t the only departure from New England. With the departure of Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Elandon Roberts, Duron Harmon and Danny Shelton the teams defense was hit hard.
The Patriots needed to strengthen their defense but they made only four picks on defense and their first selection was D2 safety Kyle Dugger. The Patriots also picked linebackers John Uche, Anfernee Jennings and Cassh Maluia.
With Stephen Gostkowski’s departure, the Patriots needed a new kicker and so they picked up Justin Rohrwasser.
Last season the Patriots had some issues with their offense but they hope the solution to their issues will be five picks that included Devin Asiasi, Dalton Keene, Michael Onwenu, Justin Herron and Dustin Woodard.
This years Draft picks all have versatile skills sets and that’s undoubtedly what the Patriots need but questions still remain at quarterback.
Jarrett Stidham and former Brady backup Brian Hoyer remain the only quarterbacks on the roster and Belichick not only likes them but he said “I have confidence in both of them.”
So maybe the answer to the questions have already been answered. Why go looking for something when you already have what you need?
